Cucumbers on Parade

In the garden at 2:00...in the jar at 4:00.

Regular readers of this blog know that we have been unusually successful growing cucumbers this spring and summer. Consequently (as a consequence?) we've had cucumber salad, cucumber relish, cucumber sandwiches and now...pickles! Don't be surprised if you spy one of your Community Gardeners sneaking up to your front porch and dropping off a bag of green things just before they run off in a mad dash.

The pickles seen above took about an hour to make. The cost was about $3.00--or .50 cents a quart including the price of ingredients and lids. (The jars were left over from prior canning years). These pickles are pretty stout and will make you call out "Mercy!"

We thank God for cucumbers...and for giving us the brains to figure out what to do with them!
