Lent is for many people a period of quiet and reflection that is often expressed through solitary pursuits, contemplative prayer, and a step away from the noise of every day life. One of the old saints said Lent was his time "to seek God's face."
Working on the Children's Garden has been such a time for your community gardeners, work that was often like playing in a small chamber orchestra with prayers in counterpoint to sawing boards and digging trenches. Now, all that remains is finishing up some fencing and laying down a few more cubic yards of mulch. Our goal of finishing by Easter has been reached and we can look back at 2011s' Lenten season with a confirming nod.
If anyone has some small gauge wire suitable for climbing plants we will be grateful for your donation and will provide a letter confirming your gift for tax purposes. Similarly, we need some one inch boards--1x4s through 1x12s that we can mill into pickets. Just drop them off at the garden or, let us know at the church office and we'll be glad to pick them up.
And, many, many thanks for the donations of materials to date. We could not have reached our goal without them.
